Bertrand Russell
Bertrand Russell (18 May 1872 – 2 February 1970) was a British philosopher, logician, mathematician and advocate for social reform.
He popularised philosophy and mathematics and commented on many others in a wide range of subjects. Politically, Russell was an avowed libertarian socialist, anti-Imperialist and pacifist who championed free trade and equality between nations.
Following the development of atomic weapons, Russell became involved in the nuclear disarmament movement; he was also sharply critical of US involvement in Vietnam.
